The Count of Monte Cristo (2024)

After escaping from an island prison where he spent 14 years for being wrongly accused of state treason, a man, helped by his young associates, returns as the Count of Monte Cristo to exact revenge on the men who betrayed him.

This is a beautifully shot film, and I really enjoyed the first half (up until the escape from prison). Although it kept me engaged, I found the "revenge" segment to be very underwhelming. It felt rushed, and "justice" was served but it did not feel as satisfyling as it was in the book. Overall, it's a beautifully shot movie with a very engaging soundtrack. I just think they should have spent another ten minutes or so developing the revenge part of the movie. It all felt pretty rushed, especially the character of Haydée, and it kind of ended up making it an underwhelming movie
